Biography
Growing up surrounded by nature cemented my early love of art, fostering my life long creative side. In Ontario, we were spoiled growing up, with my 4 loving sisters, expansive space to explore, an abattoir to run and supported by the most loving and hard working Mom and Dad. This wonderful upbringing led to my outgoing and creative personality, and positive outlook on life, which set the wheels in motion for today.

At an early age, the idea of running my own business was established. Upon graduating from The University of Western, specializing in fine art, I joined the family business. Redesigning our retail space, rebranding our look and messaging, and rethinking our store design, was a great stepping stone into the world of business. This experience carried over to an interest in corporate branding and working with multiple restaurants and small business owners in Toronto as a freelance graphic designer and branding consultant.
It was in 2014 that my husband’s career brought us to the West to begin a whole new chapter. My boys were very young, and as you can imagine, raising a family in a new city with new surroundings was exciting and a lot of work. Our move allowed me to balance creating art with raising a family and finding a wonderful rhythm. Theres nothing I enjoy more than sharing with others the medium that drives me.

Artist Statement

Within my colourful world, you will see work that varies from representational to abstract, and I am continuously moving between the two. You will find fluid marks and organic imagery in both my abstract and botanical creations which express the sensual pleasure I see in the natural world. My current series ranges from minimal and elegant,
to vibrant and alluring.

As a painter and printmaker, I find inspiration from natural forms, complete or fragments. I focus on highlighting rhythm and movement to create a balance of negative and positive space. Shadows, crisp reflections and contrasts fuel my creativity.
I am happiest when surrounded by calm, yet colourful environments, often reflected in my work. I tend to create in sets and series, from materials used, colour palates, natural clippings, and in the exploration of a particular image I have taken. I am especially inspired by natures many cycles, changes and transformations.

My work explores the beauty I see in all living things, which helps me to create carefully defined compositions.

I welcome you inside my colourful world.
